  1. He's dead right about abandoned buildings. If the money to haul them off is too much dozer them into mounds then haul those off as money allows because as we've seen there and elsewhere leaving ruined obsolete asbestos and lead-ridden structures just fucks over decent hardworking homeowners. There is nothing wrong with large open "urban prairie". That land didn't always have structures and clearing large areas attracts desperately needed private investment. Detroit leadership unlike many cities relied on an automotive monoculture and failed to economically diversify. That was deadly and renewal should foster variety to weather future economic changes.
