The Ottomans stabilized the Middle East, a feat impossible for Eurocolonialists despite the best efforts of Sykes and Picot. The locals require a harsh master else they promptly revert to their favorite sport of hacky-choppy. Simple people require simple systems suiting their tribes and superstitions. Best to leave them to it and not stick Western noses where they do not belong.

The location and design are much easier to secure against civil unrest. They should have named it Ozymandias. The MoD distance and separation further isolates it from potential unrest originating at the mosque. A change was needed but better planning and awareness that there is time to build out more slowly would save a lot of money. Failure to build housing is telling. Poverty coerces large families which aggravate general poverty but profit comes before the Egyptian public.

By aiding Russia Iran is de facto ATTACKING EUROPE, not the US.

@Elyfairy Living on the coast is always a bad idea unless one is a fisherman so I don't. Developers milked customers as the jersey shore was developed heavily after 1945. It took decades for Sandy to arrive but that's inevitable for coastal areas. While I escaped the Democrat-run taxation hell long ago my folks hung on until 2000 then cashed out and bolted for Virginia.

NKs leader has SEEN the West in person. He didn't survive this long by being foolish.

Excellent video! The dimwit masses crave drama and are not intellectually invested in understanding war, having no intellect to invest. Infotainment caters to them to put eyeballs on adverts, not to enlighten. Russia isn't going to collapse. Neither did the Soviet Union. It doesn't need to collapse to be usefully damaged. The conflict between Russia and European civilization was and remains eternal, not a matter of ephemeral administrations. Russian internal squabbles are entertaining and the bloodier the better but the major stakeholders aren't going away. Leaders are installed by stakeholders and replaced when they die of natural causes like mistaking windows for doorways or noshing Novichok. The dimwit masses will desperately hope the next apparatchick will be a Nice Guy as they delusionally wished Putin to be. Ossis and other Euroquislings will remain eager to sell out European civilization for energy profits. The real benefit of this war is demographic damage to Russia which is the only way to buy time for Ukraine and NATO between this war and the next. Russia cannot be invaded so it cannot be socially reprogrammed, but it can bleed talent abroad as it did after the civil war when White Russians escaped Bolshevik executioners. Demographic decline matters because fewer children feeding the war machine will continue to ensure low quality conscripts who die and are wounded in greater numbers than a professional force.

Of course NATO other than the US has jokes for naval forces compared to the (earlier part of) the Cold War because it foolishly believed harmlessness promotes peace. The US should titrate response to let those who failed to arm themselves suffer a while. If a ship is not US-flagged it should not be a US concern. We import toys but we export necessities. The EU nations are easily wealthy enough to field overwhelming military force but they collectively failed to appreciate large armed forces have always been necessary and that is a permanent human condition. Thank the Left (therefore Russian subversion since 1917) for all that. Pacifism is slavery. The West should be able to put Yemen and Iran to the sword but got lazy and deserves the result. KSA is of course culturally militarily incompetent, nepotistic and degenerate hence worse than useless.

An affordable inconvenience. The US has multiple carrier battle groups and global basing because wars are natural to humanity. Realigning who makes what and how it's shipped is only a matter of money.

Hurricanes are a periodic certainty so the real solution is not to live there. People don't like the truth so they rationalize poor choices despite having a lifetime and the entire US to choose from. I left Jersey because of the crowding, traffic, taxes and pro-crime laws. It was easy and I should have split earlier. The smart play is not to be there.

They load their resources on TANKERS not container ships. The distinction is not a minor one.

@gigilaco it still does and the port is critical national infrastructure worth vastly more than all the historic sentimental drivel tourists fawn over.

What a remarkably slow war. Without air dominance neither side can advance quickly. (Air superiority is not necessarily dominance.)

Egypt lacks power projection to maintain an extended war but Ethiopia has none at all. Blowing the dam would be tough but destroying the power production equipment not so. Ethiopia has no retaliatory military options given the distance between them. That is why detailed discussions of what war might look like are so limited. Egypt cannot invade Ethiopia while Ethiopia can build dams upstream or even divert and disperse much Nile water.
