My sympathy is for Ukrainian victims of Russia, not its hired barbarians who when at home prefer panga parties to building a safe, free democracy. If a volunteer comes back in a bag he won't threaten innocent fellow Africans. If one comes back with combat experience he'll be another tool of local oppression and banditry. The Soviet Union did immense damage to Africa by not genuinely supporting "liberation" but rather the despot du jour. Soviet weapons will be killing Africans for another century. It's horrible...

Agreed. Fortunately the West has BDA assessment capabilities dwarfing the (excellent) commercial satellite providers. Russian systems can be tracked from their base to destination and software can supplement or replace the Mark 1 Eyeball of human imagery specialists. Abandoned equipment implies many crew egressed on foot. Those interested can poke about Telegram channels as mass media are so heavily censored. Russian troops are often cold and too lethargic to dodge dropped grenades. They fail to prepare overhead cover, a basic soldier task since the WWI era to avoid being seen then struck. They often leave their buddies for the dogs. WIA care for survivors won't come close to Western standards while malnourished exhausted troops are vulnerable to disease. Russian field sanitation is terrible with trash and spoil highlighting their trenches from a distance.

We have geolocated tank and vehicle kills in the thousands and those tanks and vehicles were part of units badly mauled. OSINT means we need not rely on partisan sources and NATO militaries have 24/7 overhead surveillance and global intel. This isn't a matter of observers in barrage balloons guesstimating through the smoke of battle.

Russia is proficient at granular abandonment of many things from armor to its own troops. It couldn't be bothered to casevac!

NATO bridging equipment can sort that and if both tanks are sent then used appropriately the combined firepower would have greater effect. Where tank weight is an issue they can be used defensively until opportunity offers itself. US forces crossed Euphrates and other rivers with little fuss. It's a solved problem if the right systems are sent.

@Mountain_Lake_Adventures No need for a vocalized pause when the speaker can simply wait to compose their thoughts or in this case write their response to refine it then speak. That's basic professional communication.

The damage was sufficient but not dramatic. The cure for low volume of PGM fires is more PGM, of course including tube arty but also missiles, rockets, and UAS and other delivery systems. In contrast Russian arty doctrine reflects poor accuracy and is terribly inefficient.

Bingo. The Russian system was built to fail and it's too late to fix. It takes years to build effective officer and NCO corps, and Russia has zero interest in an effective independent-thinking armed force. In contrast US and NATO troops not only function independently but rather enjoy it.
