  1. Because it fails as a utility vehicle due to side entrance doors and tiny cargo capacity and lack of trucklike virtues including ability to take inserted campers etc. The end. HMMWV is a long obsolete ancient NATO utility truck for rear areas. (I was serving in West Germany when they were new.) Using it wrongly got many G.I.s maimed, killed and TBI'ed yet no ones career took a hit. HMMWV replaced the CUCV. It was never intended for direct combat. The US SHOULD have learned from SEA gun trucks for urban combat but of course were mongtarded. Let's not excuse lack of armor as being due to some "need for speed". It was pure bean counting negligence that never should have happened. NOW everything that matters will be armored after many killed, maimed, burned etc for no decent reason.
