  1. As long as the War On Some Drugs is managed punitively it will continue to make drug imports profitable. Capitalism abhors a vacuum and like alcohol Prohibition enriching the Mafia drug prohibition will enrich the cartels. The American public are far too unintelligent, passionate and ignorant to have or even want an informed adult policy debate so that doesn't happen. The wise personal move is avoid affected areas unless you're a public servant getting paid to play. The War On Some Drugs will never end and produces recession proof careers for both sides of the squabble. LEO empires reflect American eagerness to pay for for police state responses. Adding the military to the mix would increase funding and career opportunities. I'm long retired or I'd look into related careers because those missions will last much longer than anyone reading this will live. Border Patrol looks like a good gig.
