Buying things you don't need for survival is a GLOBAL trap. Buying cars on credit is a very common mistake and to be avoided. If you want to save an amazing amount of money learn to wrench, never buy new cars, buy used cars for cash from private parties IF you must have one, and ONLY care about reliability and maintainability. Anyone can do this and learning skills that save you thousands the best entertainment.

Chinese social ethos were formed during Maoist era famines and the Western concept of quality never penetrated there (unlike Japan where W. Edwards Deming is a national hero).

Quality is an alien concept in mainland China and it shows. Compare to the early Japanese auto industry adoption of quality methods. I find this hilarious.

@joserolandonovelonieto3127 What was that sentence supposed to mean in English?

The CCP isn't going anywhere despite all the astroturfing otherwise.. It can afford incompetence as it afforded famines and the Cultural Revolution which are now just memories. Collapse is just capitalism adjusting periodically. It's amusing to watch from a distance though.

Non-technical humans are lesser humans who should not be trusted to make technical decisions because they are not mentally equipped to do so correctly. Politicians are especially pernicious because they derive their power from a tech-illiterate public incapable of riding herd on them. A review of dam failures reflects this pattern and considering the best documented are in the capitalist West the NeoCapitalist East cannot reasonably plead racism. Humans are ONE race and most of them aren't very bright, intelligence being a matter of luck and an abnormality. There is ample Chinese scientific talent. Their politicians should consider listening to their scholars with (supposedly traditional) reverence for the scholar, the scientist and the engineer give us civilization.

Can someone explain the very deliberate and obvious flood of these "the sky is falling" videos? What dimwits are they aimed at? I despise the CCP but a country that shrugged off famines and the Cultural Revolution is rather unlikely to implode over minor economic problems. What drives the obviously intense desire to exaggerate them and who are the target audience? For example Falun Gong run the Epoch Times in the US which is popular with people senile enough for printed papers. Videos in English are not aimed at Chinese, so who ARE they aimed at?

Detente was a mistake.

Unfortunate but easily sustainable. Life was always cheap and economic growth more important than quality construction.

Buying luxury goods is foolish even if you can afford them. So-called "luxury" is mostly marketing to chumps. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet don't flaunt their wealth to impress people they don't have a business case for impressing. Life's rare good times are best used to prepare for much more common bad times.
