  1. The runway issue is highly over-rated by people not involved in military aviation. Run a FOD sweeper down a decent concrete highway after civil engineering does their assessment then go fly sorties.

  3. FOD walks are normal on every air force base as are FOD sweepers. F-16s can operate from concrete highways and be fueled and armed by dispersed vehicles making harder targets. They can ingest considerable sand which just blast cleans the fan and compressor sections. I borescoped plenty of Pratts and GEs on deployments.
