  1. ​ @ahshari  This may be extremely difficult to understand. but there is no practical way to hide construction of large surface vessels from surveillance as they require an enormous web of supporting infrastructure to supply parts, tools, equipment, chemical products, POL and so on. Shipbuilding requires so much effort there is no way for even wealthy nations to conceal dry docks, the few northern European underground bases in Norway etc excepted.

  3. That's a bold assumption and an unwise way to think about enemy military and intel operations. Better their investigation is "involuntarily scuttled" too so they have less information to use against Western civilization to which Russia is an ontological enemy.

  4. Trade with the US exceeds the entire CCP military budget, but greed trumps freedom. The sooner Beijing attacks Taiwan the sooner it can be completely embargoed which is far more dangerous than losing expendable (see Mao's thoughts on nuclear war) ChiCom troops and hardware. That said, were Taiwan serious about freedom it would immediately build its own nuclear deterrent following the old Beijing model. The sooner chip production is diversified the sooner Taiwan will be forced to take defense seriously (as in "spending ~15 percent GDP making it too tough a nuclear and conventional nut to crack).
