Freedom implies the right to do some things which are amazingly foolish. Some people exist to serve as examples to others.

Some troops in any military are dumber than the proverbial bag of hammers. They may manage their tasking well enough yet be utterly lost in the outside world. This has always been the subject of G.I. humor, much of it too offensive for Youtube.

Russian has always been enemy to civilization of which it has never been part. It's record of murder, genocide and oppression in easter Europe is unmatched even by the fellow with the toothbrush mustasche. Russian support helped kill and wound nearly every US casualty since 1945. Russia is not tradcon or even close though Glavset are good at duping some gullible bottom-feeders to hallucinate otherwise. Russia delenda est along with every one of it's vile supporters.

Do not EVER assume everyone is the same worldwide. Many Russians are far more ultra-nationalist than Putin who is just another product of Russian culture which has never been free in the sense of Western secular democracy. Russia is the problem while Putin is but a symptom. Russia will not be truly defeated because it has nukes and sufficient social division that it can expend its minorities in wars while (mostly) preserving the Kremlin's Muscovite base. Like the expended convicts freed to fight Ukraine some casualties are feature not a bug. Moscow can fight to the last Buryat or other vulnerable minorities so it will.

Russia cannot be anything different than the existential Asiatic enemy of Western civilization it has never been part of (the upper classes aping it badly prove the rule). Today's NeoSoviets are not morally or culturally different from Bolsheviks or Stalinists. They're just the latest in a very long line of tyrannies. Russia helped indirectly and sometimes directly inflict nearly every US and NATO casualty since 1945 (and a fair number during WWII, like letting the Luftwaffe bomb US aircraft at Poltava unopposed). Russian weapons have taken American and Western lives longer than anyone reading this has drawn breath. They are not tradcon, they destroyed the Orthodox Church long ago and the new patriarch is a plant. It's a shame Curtis LeMay wasn't greenlighted to nuke the Stalinists before they got the bomb (thanks to the Rosenberg traitors so eagerly defended by the US Left). Now new generations get a taste of reality. Ukraine was tricked by the West into denuclearization leaving it ripe for attack, so it is on the West to repair the damage while Ukraine defends civilization. Never forget for a second every pro-NeoSoviet Westerner is a traitor like their delusional and degenerate predecessors supported the USSR and Warsaw Pact.

Keeping it real no American has any legitimate personal business in Russia since the 1917 Revolution. You are either there on diplomatic orders etc or you should have stayed home. To go there at this point in time is almost as breathtakingly stupid as everyone who doesn't see that as breathtakingly stupid. Just because you show up at MEPS with pulse and respiration doesn't make you a hero, a patriot or anything else. BTW this sort of thing is far from new. Early last century it was common for inexcusably naive Europeans and Americans to travel to the supposed workers paradise of Soviet Russia. The Soviets quite reasonably assumed most were spies then imprisoned or liquidated many of them, a thoughtful gesture far more courteous than returning to sender. Today ignorance no matter how epic is not considered shameful so we get even more silly human tricks than usual. Russia should give him the five years in general population so his new friends can educate him in their quaint local customs. 😂

Americans USED to object to Soviet conquest. I was alive then. I don't much respect the modern sort and had no personal part in their choice to be historically and socially and militarily illiterate because they prefer trifling amusements. When the US stood for something both sides of the aisle resisted world Communism. Now spite matters more to a significant number of ignorant rustics who imagine they're patriots.

Much ado about nothing. Russia can simply revert to Stalinism if the Kremlin so directs because it has nuclear weapons, and Muscovites will happily send Chechens to dispose of minor local problems (safer than actual risk in Ukraine). Russian culture itself is the problem and that does not change at heart. It remains an Asiatic enemy to civilization in which it never participated except as a spectator seeking technology without cultural change.

Not yet but it should be encouraged!

What Russian units "surrendered"? Withdrawal is not surrender even in American English.

Russia helped inflict nearlu every US casualty since WWII. NeoSoviets and their delusional fellow travellers (not the hippies today, it's the rube right wing's turn to be chumped) are due the payback over a century of war against civilization deserves.

The Russian military recovered from much worse. Those ignorant of history tend to imagine this is a temporary condition rather than eternal Russian imperialism. Russia has no other social identity and can never produce decent government because it kills, imprisons and exiles its intelligentsia. This war CAN buy time until the next one, but we should remember the disgustingly naive despicably childish mistakes the West made want so desperately to believe in Putin. His replacement will be another tyrant. Russia will not change and wanting it to is delusional because what outsiders want has no effect. Eastern Europe must always be armed to the teeth. Western Europe is only sometimes a reliable ally and for decades greeted Putin with legs akimbo. In the future there is only war and preparation for war. War is the entire Russian social identity. Ukraine must not only arm but get its own nuclear weapons like France and Britain.
