Printing interests noobs in CAD/CAM which of course makes learning machining easier. If you own a home it's surprisingly easy to buy and move your own mill and lathe safely without paying a rigger so I do. (I don't bother with firearms as they're commodity items...for now.) For the cost of a few "safe queens" one can gain a wonderfully useful new hobby and make or mod parts for vehicles, tools and much much more.
