Air power is not magic especially against dispersed opponents with no key targets to destroy. Iraq was easy because it had an advanced delicate society to destroy. Yemen has no lucrative targets thanks to decades of war.

  10. Islamic State-Khorasan bombed Kabul airport to attack the US forces exiting Afghanistan. They and the Taliban (who also got smoked while protecting the evacuation) are mortal enemies. IS-K presumably want revenge for Russia bombing their buddies in Syria, Chechnya etc.
