Better spread that blame on two decades worth of White House hacks AND the Generals they appointed who LIED about the entire war, lied about "nation building" (an insane idea for every reason) and demonstrated America learned nothing from Viet Nam. The public (a few veterans and relatives excepted) never seriously studied the war and the hearings will change nothing. The ANA didn't want to fight, Kabul were as degenerate as the South Vietnamese, and met the fate nearly all of them deserved. Americans should have taken the deal to get rid of Al Qaeda but had the absurd idea we could reform Afghan society which is as crazy as thinking we could bomb the Southern US into renouncing Christianity. US culture is too profoundly ignorant to produce then elect leaders capable of wisely choosing then waging constabulary wars so we should STOP DOING THAT. This is the second prolonged attack of national idiocy I've lived through so I won't be around in thirty years when a fresh batch of fools do it all over again somewhere else. We can only be good at nation-state wars or arming proxies who actually have something to fight for, never at invading then trying to civilize third world shitholes who have every reason not to welcome invaders.
