  1. Americans love debt for things they do not need, especially "too much car", "too much house" and "too many overpriced toys". Toys should be a self-reward for being debt-free. Stupid scam rituals like getting ripped off for entertainment at Disney or thinking diamonds are a flex (because they don't know how DeBeers markets them). Be smart, live BELOW your means and enjoy the freedom that brings. I much prefer my rural acreage and tiny property tax to brutally expensive urban living. I'm low income by US standards but about half that is discretionary because wise planning pays off. Put income security first, get smart and proudly live cheap.
