  1. Osprey has a lower mishap rate than Harrier, Super Hornet, F-35B, or CH-53E Super Stallion but military aviation is dangerous. US losses in combat are so small because our troops train hard and that means flying many thousands of sorties which mean some level of Class A mishaps. RIP to the fallen. Their work is far from easy, they just make most of it look that way.

  2. They do not perform the same missions. Osprey isn't the most dangerous rotary wing aircraft but the public aren't aviationists so early impressions are permanent.
