  1. America does not deeply believe in personal freedoms beyond the Second Amendment. Legalization where it happens was allowed by politicians out of pure greed and nothing else. Bodily sovereignty is a minority concern in a nation whose culture has always been fiercely rustic, conformist and oppressive. VOTERS are responsible for the Republic and since most of them are morons on a good day (see who our elections elevate to high office if you thing that's harsh) we get political hacks who are FORCED to pander to the yowling beastmob.
