  1. If my career were that bad I would change my career. It's better to be a truck or other mechanic than an operator and the work isn't hard to learn.

  2. Smart people become mechanics because civilization stops without machinery. I chose aircraft because it's a very nice life but enjoy all kinds of wrenching including industrial. I have NEVER (I'm old) met a good mechanic who didn't have more work available than they could do in a lifetime. Because wrenching rewards experience there is no shortcut for noobs to outcompete the old guys.

  3. No xamination of trucking is complete without examining how some drivers are set up to fail while others prosper. Being an owner-operator is often a trap set by the company to offload its expenses. Remember the object of a job is MONEY and even the prettiest rig is as expendable as a used condom. When you make payments on a depreciating expensive asset that machine is nothing but a ball and chain.
