Americans aren't too bright so most of them abandoned collective bargaining instead of getting involved and making it work. When every worker imagines they're special that ensures disunity and a bucket of crabs mentality. I've worked in good and indifferent union shops in my youth which is why I chose a field where collective bargaining is not required. Workers can have collective bargaining at their command but the uneducated (education is much more than showing up for school, it requires individual initiative) working classes are their own worst enemies.
