  1. I worked in the used car business and the dealers who were often VERY well off did not buy new cars. They bought at auction and if a salvage yard owner needed a part to sell he'd pull the dealer tag, sell the part, put that car in the yard and drive something else. These guys looked like any mechanic but had serious cash, property, vacation homes etc.
