@papysambi695 Then Hungarians should ally with Moscow since they stand for nothing. Orban can be the Kadyrov he really wants to be and NATO assistance better spent on actual allies. Hungary owes NATO nothing and this begs the question why it joined in the first place. Hungary is an enemy of NATO for whatever reason so they do not need each other. It's silly to continue the charade.

US weapons production is not a constraint, it's opportunity. So is South Korean weapons production because it does not come with a political leash. SK learnt the hard way about Communism and built a motivated, professional armed force with the factories to support it.
8
@truehappiness4U Better yet, only admit the rich and educated and COMPEL them to integrate or FORCE them to leave what never belonged to them in the first place. They have their own countries and should fight for them like Islamists do for theirs.

The elegant German engineering of old is long gone in the vehicle world so no surprise here. Compare and contrast classic BMW motorbikes with current models or vintage Mercedes diesels with today's. Even better, ask mechanics who work on both.
3
Large numbers of systems which are old and were poorly maintained while stored can be a considerable burden. The US stores its vehicles in desert and other climates which don't promote corrosion. (I've been to the AMARC at Davis-Monthan and the tracked vehicle storage area at Camp Shelby during my USAF career.) We've satellite pics of how sloppily Russian stocks are kept. Old vehicles require experienced mechanics and technicians. Those require several years to become truly proficient. The Russian military is famously theft-prone at all levels and it happens that the lubricants, hydraulic fluid (armed force use immense quantities of hydraulic fluids), small parts, larger components with dual use and larger components profitable to sell and easy for those with access to steal. Photos show their tanks etc were often maintained indifferently. (Their naval vessels ditto as we see from the leaked Russian reports on Moskva's condition.) When a tank won't start because it's batteries are ancient it may not be recoverable, and Russian recovery tracks are notably absent thanks to their strategic emphasis on rapid offense by expendable units. No wonder Ukraine gets so many "gifts".

@HumanBeingsRThinkingBeings False equivalence - fallacy
3
Russian Federation is not the USSR. That point bears relentless hammering because most people are and will remain far too ignorant of things military to form an opinion.

Kindness can be degenerate.

Russia has a long record of depopulating Ukraine by direct or indirect coercion. It is fitting Russian demographics are impacted (yet again) by inevitably toxic Russian government. Russians seeking freedom left Czarist oppression, Bolshevik oppression, Soviet oppression etc and today quite logically flee Putinist NeoSoviet oppression. Civilization would be better off without Russia, whose record of tyranny, murder and genocide surpasses that of the Third Reich. While the former Axis powers were merely afflicted with bad governments, Russia has never and will never produce a good government. Decent Russians should leave as there is no hope in a nation which has imprisoned, jailed and shot its intelligentsia since Czarist times.
2
@attilakovacs6428 Then please advocate Hungary leave NATO and everyone will benefit.
2
Then they have no reason to be in NATO and should exit.
2
@lugardboy Ukraine was part of the USSR thanks to brute Soviet force, not enthusiasm. In return Russia liquidated Ukrainians by shooting and starvation so they're understandably annoyed.
2
As an American partly of Polish ancestry I and millions like me are deeply inspired by Polish resistance to oppression from both of its historically genocidal neighbors.

Aid to Ukraine is fundamentally European and American self-defense from ontologically evil Russian culture which has never produced a free society because it violently rejects prerequisites like personal and economic freedom. Aid to Ukraine is a spectacularly great deal for the American and European publics though many are too naive, and ignorant to understand the threat. Those who served on the free side of the Berlin Wall containing the Soviet beast knew the threat first hand and some saw their victims trying to escape shot down in cold blood. Germany is in a difficult position because it inherited pro-Soviet Quislings when it assimilated East Germany. (West Germany was a joy to defend, I did two years at Sembach and like my mates volunteered to extend.) They betrayed Germany by making it energy-dependant on it's historic enemy instead of honestly pushing for green, safe, non-petroleum alternatives. Reject oil addiction and defund Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and many more tyrannical regimes who rely on resource extraction because they cannot tolerate productive free societies. What's good for the planet is good for the economy is good for personal and national freedom.
2
@rebeccahenderson7761 That was not the point of observing what usually happens. Cheerleading on Youtube has no effect on the ground either. Only SOME Iranians are fighting the regime which lest we forget IS KEPT IN POWER BY A MAJORITY of Iranians who support the mullocracy. When people seriously want their government gone they do what the Taliban did (like them or not, they won their war) and apply violent force at any personal cost. Peaceful demonstrations only work on weak Western governments who have some concern for human rights, a concept alien to the Middle East excepting a minority of Westernized people. Democracy is a Western concept alien to the rest of the world and only capable of taking root in relatively modern cultures where religion is weak.
2
The people of Iran have two choices both of them bad. Either outfight and destroy their enemies or be enslaved to theocrats. The mullocracy will not go down quietly because humans who believe in imaginary celestial friends consider dying for their beliefs an honor and killing anyone who disagrees with them a joy. Outsiders cannot do much as previous interference is what eventually propelled the mullocracy to power. It is for Iranians to choose between civil war and surrender. Older Iranians are the problem and youth can choose to be the solution but there will be tens of thousands of martyrs lost either way. The world has too many greedy old men in power.
2
There is no dilemma. That is a a false choice fallacy. US GDP is over 22 trillion dollars much of that due to the global stability our alliances foster. Aid to Ukraine makes flawless strategic sense for Russia must be contained. We fought this battle before with the USSR and won (China won in Asia thanks to detente and Western business greed).
2
@gergelyszabo4572 Then leave the EU and all entanglements for your natural Russian master if you will not support freedom for others. Hungary benefits and so does the EU.
2
Putinists want a USSR and Warsaw Pact revival. Russians in living memory Gulag'ed, murdered and abused indigenous Latvians. Russians were settled in Latvia to displace native Latvians. None of those things are subject to reasonable doubt. Ever wonder why most of the former Warsaw Pact are ENTHUSIASTIC members of NATO? If you do, read post-1900 history of both Romanov and Bolshevik/Stalinist/etc Russian empires. Ask Latvians!
2
The Chinese Communist Party runs Chinese foreign policy, and China in general is increasingly nationalist and expansionist. Ask Tibet what Beijing thinks of less powerful nations. Beware of investment and examine other nations economic deals with China. One can never be too careful. Trust no one. Verify everything.
1
Russia is ontologically toxic hence genuinely immune to Western democratization. That's why the "real" Russians dispose of dissidents one way or another. Putin's strategy of controlled opposition ensures even greater effectiveness. Wise Russians leave and don't look back, hence many expat communities elsewhere. Good luck to the dissidents but they would be wise to plan more than one route of escape. Putinists are free at any time to fully revert to the ways of their Stalinist heroes.
1
Hungary is actively sabotaging the accession of Finland and Sweden by delaying the Parliamentary vote. There is no logical reason to do that other than kowtowing to Moscow.
1
Glavset shill detected. The MIC is why the West is free of Soviet and successor oppression. Without an effective MIC nations die. The idea having one is somehow wrong is mere Leftist therefore Russian subversion.
1
The comments are from Glavset, not Germans.
1
@Scott6794 If CIA were as competent and capable as paranoids insist the US would win much more often.
1
Admitting Hungary was a mistake. Kick them out of the EU and let them fellate their hero Putin. Some parts of the East will always be enemy to Western culture and that Hungarians proudly serve Putin while forgetting their heroes of 1956 is laughable. Too bad the EU cannot barter Hungary for Ukraine, because Hungarians are clearly nostalgic for Russian rule.
1
@MrKnaives A-stan belongs to Afghans and the Talibs are far from the most radical contender. Why are you leaving "What the Taliban did..." as an open sentence? What DID they do that should concern outsiders?
1
@nofilteralltruth Yes, and unlike you I've studied this sort of thing since childhood (I'm now over 60). The US reason for invading was NOT to fight Taliban but to destroy Al Qaeda units while aiding local client forces. The US did not invade with intent to build a reformed CULTURE which goes against Islam.
1
Know and understand their opponents are every bit as Iranian as they are.
1
Do the smart thing like all my ancestors and emigrate. There are much better places to live with actual hope for the future including Canada which needs more people to develop its enormous area.
1
@johanlarsson9805 WHY did that obvious nonsense not provoke instant, bitter resistance across all Swedish social classes? Why did Swedes make the premeditated adult choice to be anti-nationalist? Why was the Swedish Left not instantly seen as Stalinist subversives they really were? There is no rational excuse for Leftism except to destroy Western culture.
1
Its IMAGE among NON-TECHIES who do not actually work on German vehicles or equipment is top notch. When it comes to technology never forget the opinions of non-techies are inherently worthless, then ignore them.
1
Russian behavior is completely normal for their culture and every previous act of war and genocide is proof. The few decent Russians are exiled, executed, imprisoned etc. It is no accident Eastern European countries from Finland south are helping Ukraine for Russia butchered their people too. The Ukrainian people are today welded together by war and the certainty of total social destruction at the hand of the NeoSoviet armed forces and evil clients like Kadyrov. My respect to everyone who fights the Russian menace which is permanent and unceasing. Serving in West Germany on the free side of the Berlin Wall ordered by Russia to imprison Warsaw Pact civilians was enlightening. Today Putin is teaching the world a lesson about fundamental Russian character.
1
The patriots died in 1956. Survival meant bending the knee which remains bent.
1
The government will likely wait a bit then pull another Tienanmen Square massacre. Westerners should remember Beijing leadership like the Kremlin do not value lives other than their own at all. Beijing can simply invoke nationalism then send in troops to kill protesters. They will be allowed to vent but not much longer.
1
As long as Persia maintains the religion of its Arab conquerors it will suffer as the hands of their superstitionist adherents.
1
@zhufortheimpaler4041 It is inexcusable for any AFV or other combat system to be unreliable or for its owners to neglect it. Refusal to maintain equipment is a CHOICE. So are low reliability designs in an era where engineers have better tools for design (and failure analisys) than ever.
1
@silvercat18 A destroyer is vastly more complex than and AFV, having many individual systems more complex than any AFV. With a nick like that you're obviously a military illiterate. Troll elsewhere or be laughed at.
1
Replacing Wagner with Chechens may have the droll effect of weakening Kadyrov who has kept power by avoiding serious losses. If Kadyrov's forces bleed Chechens may not want to die for the Russian empire which murdered so many of them. BTW if the West had supported Chechnya it could have avoided this war. Weakness isn't free.
1
Glavset shill detected who doesn't understand the support tail required by modern weapons systems makes it impractical to disappear them and that modern NATO intel is global.
1
@abdulajid92 Cults of personality are de-facto religions with dictator taking the place of deity, North Korea being a typical example. The masses are of low intelligence and high ignorance everywhere (intelligence is not a choice but a matter of luck) so they demand to be affirmed and MUST be ruled by either religionists or secular ideologies sufficiently similar. That cannot change because modern society ended evolutionary pressures. This guarantees perpetual idiocracy.
1
Sadly Mr. Bondarev does not represent the Russian people's preferences.
1
The point of the operation was nostalgic evocation of the Soviet era to reflect on the Putinist ultranationalists. This mission was theater, not science and they should not be confused. Putin to Ukraine is even bloodier than Winston Churchill was to India (to use an analogy some may understand) but his fans there could not care less about anything other than Russian military aid so their loyalty was easily bought. The crash is a plus for civilization to which nothing of value was lost. Spacecraft are easily replaced and losing a few is expected.
1
Singaporean methods are brilliant because they reflect a true understanding of humanity. Europe has only some technology. It stands for nothing and has been morally bankrupt since the Soviets won the Second World War then infected it with the Leftist virus. Singapore dealt appropriately with Communists. Europe chose to fight FOR them instead.
1
Either they escalate or lose. They will have to match their oppressors appetite for combat sooner or later because evil men can only be slain, not redeemed (the microscopic number of exceptions prove the rule). Anyone can make IEDs or infiltrate their enemy then make "Blue on Blue" assaults. The revolution which installed the mullahs was not peaceful either and the mullahs make the inept cowardly Shah look like Spongebob by comparison. Iranian revolutionaries set examples of courage by dying, but victory is taken by destroying the enemy (who obviously agrees since they've zero compunction about shooting unarmed protestors).
1
@NewtypeCommander Insightful post! Shooters and material support are key to a successful revolution just like last time.
1
When you EMBRACE your opponents insults, REJECT their tantrums then ESCALATE as far as required for you to dominate utterly because the alternative is your cultural destruction. The enemy hides beneath "respect" , "courtesy" and other cultivated maudlin weakness. Discard all your (wrong) social programming and if someone attempts to force you, force them back. Ukraine is not surrendering to Russia. Why surrender to unconventional enemies?
1
@Mike.Muc.3.1415 Turkey is historically threatened by Russia and its people know it. It's of too much strategic value due to geography to alienate. OTOH Hungary has under eight million people and is a mere backwater. Erdogan will pass one day as no man is immortal. Before him Turkey was a reliable ally and has a storied history fighting Russians. Strategy demands political compromise sometimes. I'd like to see the NATO nations who support freedom (Turkey supports its own nationalism which is its right but that's very diffferent) draft a "NATO equivalent" treaty to include Sweden and Finland who are reliable assets, particularly the Finns who made Russia pay in blood for every captured meter of their land.
1
Unfortunately decades of Soviet occupation broke them. They're not nearly as tough as (for example) Afghans who drove out the British twice, then Russia and the US once each. Unlike Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Finland etc who despite MULTIPLE foreign invasions remain unbroken Hungary elected an actual Fascist who gets on with Moscow like the birds of a feather they are.
1
Never forget most people are unintelligent, ignorant, uneducated and militarily illiterate yet they dare imagine their opinions valid.
