The elegant German engineering of old is long gone in the vehicle world so no surprise here. Compare and contrast classic BMW motorbikes with current models or vintage Mercedes diesels with today's. Even better, ask mechanics who work on both.

Its IMAGE among NON-TECHIES who do not actually work on German vehicles or equipment is top notch. When it comes to technology never forget the opinions of non-techies are inherently worthless, then ignore them.

@zhufortheimpaler4041 It is inexcusable for any AFV or other combat system to be unreliable or for its owners to neglect it. Refusal to maintain equipment is a CHOICE. So are low reliability designs in an era where engineers have better tools for design (and failure analisys) than ever.
