  1. The kid was intelligent but any serious student of Russian history knows the dissidents are always a doomed minority. Hope is childish and like all childish things unworthy of a thinking adult. Russia has exiled, jailed and murdered its intelligentsia since Tsarist times and there are ZERO powerful stakeholders or movements supportive of modern secular democracy. Controlled opposition ensures there never will be. There is no need to believe in fiction. Only containment and implosion as applied successfully to the former Soviet Union can limit the damage Russia does to civilization to which it has never been a party in general.

  2. Brave lad but when the Kremlin does the usual and exploits accumulated information to trap dissidents it would be wise to be far, far away. No one can come to the rescue and all dissent exists at the sufferance of the Kremlin. Putin wants a Soviet respawn and may well get it within the Federation.
