  1. I'm ready and don't care. I'm not rich and don't need to be but I'm debt free by simply not acquiring debt. I've lived through several recessions quite smoothly by copying sensible folk. Other people bought McMansions and lost them. I bought cheap rural acreage zoned agricultural with old structures needing work, did the work, paid it off and still live there. Other people went in debt for new vehicles. I do not buy or want new vehicles because they're a punitively expensive ripoff. I choose rides for reliable service over time and easy self-maintenance then keep them for life. If one needs attention there is no hurry since I have matching spares. This is all simple down-home old time thinking proven by other men before I was born.

  2. Wise people know markets are LOCAL not national and what someone else is doing is not relevant to an individual who plans coldly, methodically and wisely. Many people are doing well and I'm one of them despite being far from rich, but you really have to devote yourself to yourself which takes more work than most want to put in. Choose everything wisely and plan for the long term. Stability and low overhead are key. So is avoiding high COL areas because every dollar wasted on overhead is one less towards your future.
