  1. Living in the desert was never a brilliant idea. Humans like resort towns so it happened. Developer greed put people in nationally sub-optimal locations to which they are now financially attached so they will never relinquish it. Instead they will rationalize and do many amusing things until events force realism. We laugh at other countries where people insist on developing desert. Mote and beam, anyone?
