  2. The newsies reported the irrelevant boiler inspection because like most moderns they wouldn't know a boiler from a baseball bat. We don't know what dislodged the pipe or if it burst due to corrosion, manufacturing defect or installation error. These ancient buildings need a wrecking ball but many people forget how very old they really are. No outside visual inspection of standard steam radiators would detect internal failures but they can be fitted with steel radiator covers to prevent direct contact and deflect some steam. (Such covers were common since many years ago but are mostly used for decoration.)

  3. Their VOTERS elected them so in fact they are. Their voters aren't the brightest lot so why don't they deserve to get what they made the INFORMED ADULT CHOICE to vote for? The PUBLIC did this. The public will continue to vote Democrat just as I continue to be amused by their choices.

  4. If it were "my home" I would have left decades ago. These old firetraps have been a plague on the Bronx since before anyone living was born. They should not exist. They are not designed to last centuries. They cannot be improved to last centuries and are not precious cultural artifacts any more than my garden shed. Laws should focus on gentrification because ONLY gentrification makes bad areas into good ones. Determine a reasonable age after which a building should be removed and replaced then give tax incentives etc to make it happen. NY real estate is worth enough to replace worn out buildings. NYC should look like Tokyo and other genuinely modern cities, not some movie set from the Great Depression (this building was erected two years before the market crash!).

Make all the bridges over such vital connections out of steel where they cross the road and mandate they be designed like military bridges so they can be removed, repaired, replaced and maintained easily. Were that a mobile bridge it could have been removed in hours and immediately replaced. Designing things for easy and rapid maintenance is not rocket surgery. Mobile bridges from WWII still serve around the world.

New Yorker voters voted to put failed foreigners above every American citizen including themselves and their children. New Yorkers WILL continue to put more Democrats in office because that never changes. New York Democrats WILL continue throwing poor Americans under the bus to give their money to new arrivals who are the future Democrat voting base. Flooding the already crowded (because people are afraid to leave their home town despite the US being enormous) NYC housing system with even more people keeps the landlord class wealthy and makes Blackrock a mint. Wall Street matters but the poor who Democrats constantly court then do nothing to help are ignored. Democrat New Yorkers decided they can take African-American votes for granted as usual. That frees them to expand their party to new arrivals who replace African-Americans in the job market and whose rapid population growth will displace them from their existing neighborhoods (which keeps them poor and STATE DEPENDENT). It's impressively evil even for the state that gave America Tammany Hall but no one will stop it from happening. The New York public did this to itself. NY made the informed deliberate premeditated choice to become and remain a sanctuary city. The voters are not demanding to change the law so they must be happy with the results. Inaction is a choice.

  14. Why would anyone care about some random house in Queens? Homes are abandoned all the time and thousands of homes bought and sold every year. No polices force is funded enough to surveil all of that. You should have seen NY in the 1980s when it had over 1200 murders a year (that were reported anyway)...

  16. Squatting in a private residence is HOME INVASION and should be legal to repel with hot lead if the perp refuses to leave INSTANTLY. Trespassing after being ordered to leave should be a felony. The US is collapsing because we do nothing about crime and our laws favor criminals over good hardworking citizens.

  22. The way to serve that kind of area is NOT by walk-in business so don't do that. Have a row of armored windows at street level where people can pick up their orders without putting innocent employees at risk. Customers could shop online then when the order is paid for (not before) it gets picked by staff and held in a ready line for X amount of time to await pickup. If the order is not picked up in a specified time a restocking fee covers time lost by returning the product to stock. No shoplifting, no problem.
