Calling the NG indicates the politicians are idiots who don't understand policing or the Guard, but the troops should be getting phat per diem for putting up with the stoopid. Civilians, especially Democrats, no longer understand the armed forces so this particular Stupid Gesture is just for show. The main difference and the reason as a vet I would PREFER military patrols is anyone can get hired as a cop in Democrat-run cities while the ANG really do get decent training and are under the UCMJ. Unlike the cops they don't have a union to fight for them if they screw up. Kudos to the troops but this is not what they're for and even in the 1970s NYC handled its own business. The public today are weak scared clowns not near as tough as of old so they vote Blue and get what that invites.
