  1. Over ten in and ya didn't hang for twenty? That's a very large amount of money to leave on the table even if you tired of your particular service. (I served with many escapees from other branches in the AF except Coast Guard who apparently have very high retention.) The only reliable retirement is a vested government retirement. BTW the AF Guard or Reserve is one way to finish out to get retirement credits. There's also Federal civilian retirement plans.
