  1. I give up nothing because all my devices are tools not toys. My possessions exist to support my opportunities not distract me from them. Unlike personal computers no phone has good ergonomics which must be sacrificed for size and mobility. At home mine is charging at my PC workstation so if I'm sent anything worth reading I use scrcpy to bring it up on a virtual desktop. Phones distract the weak but used productively are very useful tools.

  2. 65 here and a techy whose devices are tools not toys, but I get that most users are just ordinary sheeple who follow their chosen herd and cannot value self-mastery. I don't consider the distraction of humans too silly to focus appropriately a problem because they're not smart enough to contribute anything useful. Before the personal computer age idjits were still idjits. Now they're just more visible.
