  1. What do you imagine those people do that is not redundantly covered by other key personnel? Ambassadors are decorative and mostly political appointees. The Navy chain of command was designed long before anyone reading this was born to function even with heavy casualties. The carrier groups are self-contained and can defend themselves or carry out national directives on their own.

  2. There is no end point. Wanting an end point is silly but most humans think incorrectly of history as tidily segmented. Permanent low-level war is the price of the Israeli ethnostate. This attack is dramatic (NEVER confuse human drama and tragedy with anything else or different) but not an existential threat to Tel Aviv. It's a wakeup call for a badly mismanaged defense (walls require human pickets ready to apply firepower at ZERO prior notice) which should never rest for holidays. The wire fence barrier should have been much more robust and covered 24/7 by artillery on alert to shwack anyone approaching it and all physical approaches should be destroyed as they must be presumed military action. Every fit Israel should be EAGER to be armed 24/7/365 and thoroughly trained in basic combat skills. The Reserves should be trained to much higher standards. (You can never be too capable.) Israel is not the US so it is free to develop a larger Jewish firearms culture and should because an unarmed man or woman is an utterly helpless man or woman.
