  1. If one part fails the engine and perhaps the aircraft may be destroyed. Engines are interesting fun to work on because they're so demanding. Study how cooling air protects internal engine parts from heat which would otherwise melt them to slag. Jet fuel doesn't just "melt steel beams", it melts superalloys unless they're protected by an invisible and complex cooling air system which uses the (many, man tons) of air flowing through the engine.

  2. Aircraft parts are not simple to manufacture to spec. They only appear that way to non-technicians who relate to objects based on their external shape. Study how parts must be made. Printing is not magic, especially metal printing, and with respect to metals grain structure and much more is critical. Turbine hot section parts made of superalloys are not easy to manufacture. So few countries manufacture their own jets and turboprops because the precursor industries are so complex. Passengers expect not to crash. There is no low hanging fruit.
