The smile reflects "dupers delight" which his invariably simple worshippers are unable to process.

Jamming only degrades GPS. Jamming does not affect INS but INS as fitted to supplied JDAM kits is only yields ~30 meter CEP while GPS yields ~5 meter CEP (per public release anyway). Reducing effectiveness is not the same thing as rendering supplied JDAM "useless". In the perpetual electronic race expect both sides to invest in home-on-jam missile systems for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defensed). Jamming and countermeasures constantly evolve. Glavset and friends naturally prefer absolutist assertions which make better propaganda given their non-technical audience. Tabloid media in the West are equally silly but the simple masses demand simple assertions or their eyes glaze over.

The tank was mobility killed so unless Russia can retrieve it under fire with another tank (a very slow process even for experienced troops) it will be finished off afterwards. That's how AT mines can end ANY tank. There are no mine-proof tracks.

Back in the day they also had detectives doing mob hits and tried to whack Frank Serpico.

Only to military illiterates and children. Tanks are to be used in COMBINED arms operations including SHORAD to take out drones. This war is like the Iran-Iraq war, a few innovative systems and masses of old systems designed for a different era. Russia uses cope sheds because it doesn't have enough hard kill Active Protection Systems. Tanks with their high load capacity and low ground pressure will remain necessary (for the same reasons bulldozers etc are tracked) to carry heavy defensive systems to go with their heavy offensive systems. No one accuses wheeled vehicles of being obsolete for obvious reasons but they're even more vulnerable without SHORAD systems and (heavy) APS.

Ukraine does not want them. They were SHORAD bait even in Desert Storm where I worked F-16 next to the CLSS who did some amazing work repairing battle damaged Warthogs. Ukraine does not have air superiority let alone the utter air dominance we did in Desert Storm. F-16s are far more viable and even those will operate at standoff ranges since neither Russia or Ukraine have sufficient SEAD assets.

Were they the most effective military they would have properly MANNED their border wall, had artillery ready to fire 24/7/365 at anyone approaching the border defensive barriers, had ubiquitous SHORAD to protect their checkpoints and other facilities, and been able to wipe out the few thousand troops Hamas troops used. Professional militaries have no excuse for command responsibility failures, not the US in A-stan or Israel this time. The Israeli military leadership dropped the border control ball very, very badly. Why did this "most effective" military get bypassed by people its surveilled for decades and could air strike at will? Perpetual war is the price of the Israeli ethnostate yet border security was complacently managed so the enemy got through.

When certain freqs it's set to monitor it detects them. Fortunately the Russians lack sophistication. Whoever deploys autonomous UAS first will make a killing.

@babd3121 It also happens to be an IFV both in armor and equipment and is used as such (73 Easting ring a bell?).

@fanfeck2844 What do you imagine fascists look like? Do they have horns and a spiked tail? BTW the appropriate term is "Russian ultranationalists". Only simples imagine some struggle for more than power. This is a war over land and for Ukraine, to avoid genocide. Politics is a distant second.

When that's what you have, that's what you use. If all you had was a BB tow would you not try to bust a "metal bunker" given no alternative?

A CREW? TOW videos well shot on phones date back to Syria when US required proof the donated TOW were being used not stolen and resold. How tech-illiterate must one be to not know what any teenager on social media knows how to do, which is take and edit footage? I'll break it down for the window-lickers too mentally deficient to understand early 2000s technology in 2023 (TOW is older of course and was turning Russian armor into scrap metal decades ago in Desert Storm.) Nearly every soldier in the modern world has GoPro, phone or both. Missiles are fun as are video souvenirs. When you're in the military your basic needs are met so buying a camera has been popular as long as affordable cameras existed. Shooters and dismounts take vids. The drone vids are obviously from the SPOTTER drone who found the tank in the first place. The TOW gunner has a CLU not just a naked Mark 1 eyeball. That combination let him see the vatnik tank whose crew have nothing similar thanks to the money going elsewhere for several decades. TOW launches have very low visual signatures so the Russians may not have known what hit them even assuming they were alert, and there was no time to drive away especially given low Russian reverse gearing. It's not OK to be technically ignorant and have opinions on technology. It's shameful in an adult.

Mines can mobility kill any tank by breaking track after which other systems can finish it off. Cope sheds only work against light FPV under ideal conditions. Otherwise cope sheds severely limit already poor vision, severely limit turret traverse, and prevent the tank from defending itself from sides and rear. May Russia put cope sheds on all their vehicles because ATGW they cannot see thanks to the shed can attack from outside the barrel traverse. Containing turrets makes cleanup and recycling more convenient.

@mark4371 Military illiterates should not permit themselves opinions on tech they do not understand but of course they do. Mass media (including Youtube and its Google parent) wxist to monetize viewers. Meaningless terms like "red line", "game changer" and other nonsensical buzzwords are popular because they can be used anywhere which reinforces that popularity making them useful for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Standoff weapons properly employed work nicely (Israeli use of JDAM and other standoff munitions for example) but one also needs enough weapons with sufficient airframes to deliver them. Neither Ukraine nor Russia have a modern air force. They have legacy air forces with a few modern systems. This war is rather like the Iran-Iraq war which is why I expect it to last as long as Putin feels like expending non-Muscovites (which historically is considered a feature not a bug).

Tape is long obsolete. Media is digital and who dug up that ancient telly?

English rule in Ireland was comparable to Russian brutality and genocide in Ukraine. The potato famine and Holomodor have much in common.
