  1. Rotary valves only make poppet (the correct term) valves look "silly" to those unstudied in valve design. Poppet valves are easy top manufacture, repair, and modify. Cylinder pressure aids their seal against the valve seat. Like sleeve valves they CAN be made to work but the tradeoffs (rotary valves are not some magical zero flow impedance design) proved not worthwhile. Cool idea but like many over the last couple of centuries it (like sleeve valves) looks better on the drawing board.
