Vehicles should carry ONE license number for life as done in the UK. No temp tags etc. The US has many accumulated absurd laws.

@ghostwalk2446 That is NOT how that works (in non-Rust Belt states). Why do people who are not mechanics have opinions instead of questions? Inspections suck a work day minimum lost per inspection. Inspections burn fuel and time. Very few accidents are due to poor vehicle maintenance (I'm a lifelong mechanic) making them counterproductive for POVs (outside the Rust Belt).

@dewmontain123 You endanger others running dirty. I've been hit by uninsured motorists and dislike having overall rates raised. Anyone can find a way to cook. Thrift stores have used hot plates and toaster ovens which are small enough for a backpack.

Use automated plate readers with patrolling snatch trucks and MAKE THE TAXPAYERS MONEY. Wheel lift trucks would pay for themselves quickly. Texas is leaving money on the table. Tow , impound, store then auction for fines and storage due. Use the money to fund law enforcement (more tow trucks). Scummy low end used car dealers were the opposition.
