Most of my fellow computerheads use Brother. HP was once gloriously well built until Carly Fiorina murdered it.

Buying requires money, downloading requires bandwidth. Backup provides data security. If your entertainment is only entertainment that time is wasted because it can be spent improving your knowledge and useful skills like DIY (which pays as well as every task you no longer pay someone else to do).

I grew up long before the internet and much prefer today. As for electronic reading material I sail the high seas for that as I owe our rich masters nothing.

@ErrorNull403 You can stop paying them and they can't do jack about that. People are far too submissive.

@Human_Earthling Why "buy" mere entertainment? That's a waste of precious money and expensive space to store it. I never expected in 2025 that so many people would refuse to become highly proficient with personal computers. For example everything you see on Youtube can be easily downloaded on a personal computer. Linux is free so any old machine can still have a current, reasonably secure operating system and Windows is easy to safely pir8.

@MagpieMalone Yes, you can, just use a USB DVD burner. The sooner you choose to LEARN tech instead of just USE tech the more fun you'll have! Ripping DRM from media is easy given the very low effort required, and learning should be more satisfying than mere consumption. Master the basics of computers by practicing on whatever's cheap or free (millions of usable machines are discarded every year) then you need never go without. Just decide to learn how things work then use the internet to self-teach. Knowledge is power. I've never paid a computer or phone tech in my life.

For the love of all that's holy learn to maintain your own vehicles and you'll save absurd money over time. I buy used then keep mine at least 20 years (granted, I don't live in the Rust Belt but that's deliberate too). Owner forums (inherently best for tech interaction which is not the same as video push content), videos (ideal for showing details of each task) and aftermarket service manuals (Clymer, Chilton, Haynes) will help you learn to get the most out of your vehicles. It doesn't take long to enjoy it and get good after which your operation and maintenance costs can be easy to manage. Just looking after basic fluid changes etc can make your ride last many years, and even when you don't do advanced work yourself you can understand enough to avoid being overcharged.

Subscriptions are a waste because fictional entertainment is a waste. Reject all that, cut the cord and keep the internet for continuous self-education. Popular entertainment monetizes fools. Simple internet access put the libraries of history at your fingertips. If I need tech info for everything from a hand drill to my vehicles or home someone else, usually many someones, solved that problem.

Learning computers is free and that gives you informed choices. It's easy to download music without adverts using the right tools.

People are INDIVIDUALS, not slaves to the clickbait idea of "generations" (which are BTW an imaginary but popular concept). If you believe you are helpless you'll stay that way. If you follow the herd that's a sucker bet because the masses anywhere are not educated, clueful or wise. If what you do isn't working, stop doing it. If where you are isn't working, leave before any self-inflicted traps like marrying young ruin your life. Have zero useless hobbies or interests and use your time to learn constantly. Do a variety of things because there is no general answer for everyone. Discard all fashionable social beliefs but keep pretending to believe them because hypocrisy is required to usefully manage idiots. (If you still lack a healthy contempt for humanity, embrace realism!) Do learn DIY skills which are a financial effectiveness multiplier that improves as you go. Anyone can as I'm nothing special. The more you do for yourself the less labor you burn money on. Learned helplessness is deadly but it's also a choice. Study every vehicle you own or want to, including bicycles, e-bikes etc. Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity or other local org so you can learn while human networking. The more positive smart people you learn from the better. Do not live in a city. That's just prison with extra steps. Most humans are lemmings which ruins their odds by competing with a large pool of job seekers whose jobs are easily outsourced or destroyed by automation. Copy success, coldly. Embrace drastic self-change.

@KatherineVoor-y3w Most humans are foolish and get what that deserves. Don't follow the herd because they ruin what they touch, like flooding formerly desirable states which makes them expensive nightmares.

@endrewhagrid Better to use both since a single copy has no backup. Drive space is cheep so I download media to my notebooks (P52 have space for three hard drives) or desktop then transfer what I want to the MicroSD card in my phone.

@lifeoutnumbered The licensing issue only matters to sheeps and there are many ways to download.

The alternative is to use piracy to grow your brand. A musical example of ENCOURAGING taping concerts was the Grateful Dead. Cater to fans and fans respond.
