  3. Want in one hand then defecate in the other and see which weighs more. Owners don't want to pay techs and flat rate is OPTION not LAW. The place to spin wrenches is aviation so that's where I went and retired (thanks, USAF!) at 47. The auto industry will not be fixed. Parents SHOULD chase their offspring away from the automotive world. If you love to wrench do it on YOUR rides.

  4. "Working visual artist" is a tragedy. Women her age were NOT encouraged to work and be independent so most never got marketable skills. If you're female and reading this, take a good look so it doesn't happen to you then learn how to do jobs people pay well for, and the more skills the better! (My wife was an outstanding helicopter mechanic. You can do most anything you're determined to.)
