  2. The US is inherently rustic and the current POTUS a quintessential American. His base will remain after he departs and they HATE Europe. Time to cut free of the US (but wisely) for it stands for nothing but money and is no one's ally except Israel (for which it would accept even nuclear annihilation as the price of salvation). China famously just does business making it an ideally pragmatic ally. Every smaller nation needs a friendly superpower client and unlike nations run by individuals, is coldly pragmatic.
