Those who care in the US can add a 240V circuit (electric stoves and ovens already use one) with an outlet where desired and run 240v resistance heater devices like kettles where the phase difference doesn't matter. I don't leave a kettle going because I'm not constantly drinking coffee, but for that sort of thing many in the US use coffee machines like Bunn make. Large electric percolators are common but less so in homes. The military often has large electric coffee urns in workcenters. The rise of energy drinks is also a factor. The only reason to drink coffee or tea is the stimulant effect and there are many types of legal "speed".
