I have to say reading through this argument was amusing. Classic case of people who were arguing with Ray thinking they were arguing with "one of those pesky liberals" (the dead giveaway was phrases like "you must be one of those emotional progressive types") when really they just refuse to see a very specific semantic difference. This is why you don't try to pidgeonhole your opponent, it really never helps you and only limits your own thinking. I wonder how they think policemen can get any work done if they can't use correlating factors (clothes and tattoos worn is probably the biggest for example) to keep an eye on potential criminals.
