@konaken1035 You just compared owning a domesticated pit bull to owning a wild animal and brushed it off like it's totally fine. As if that roughly 10,000 years of domestication and breeding humanity did for dogs should count for nothing. Pit bull owners are weird, I will never understand them.

@Hankblue That is my point, he is talking about it like it's normal and doesn't make pit bulls look like an unusually dangerous dog breed. You don't have to treat most dogs like tamed wild animals, there are hundreds of generations of artificial selection between domesticated dog breeds and tamed wild animals.

@2wildtravlers That's called living in a society pal, if you live here you have to agree by the laws, and one of those laws is that human life is more valuable than animal life. Otherwise you could be charged with murder for killing an animal. I say this as someone who has lived with dogs for 2/3rds of his life. Your emotions don't trump the law, simple as that. Don't want your dogs to get killed? Well, all you need to do is train them properly, and study their behavior. You know, treat them properly instead of neglecting them.

@genarogarcia9769 Dogs are family, but well, I don't know what to tell if you think your son, brother, sister, mother, whatever should be excused because they assaulted or killed someone.

@noellealdi881 You'll never convince them. Many people are uncomfortable with admitting that dog breeds have genetic behaviors because they think it means they would have to admit that people might also have the same problem, and that would make them racist in their mind. Despite the fact that us humans have been literally playing God with dogs and breeding them to be machines suited for specific tasks for 10,000 years, unlike humans. It would be ridiculous to assert that it is no fault of their genetics, but cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.

@Panda-pm3if All dog breeds are not inherently aggressive, only when they become feral do they become necessarily aggressive. Golden retrievers are known to be too friendly in fact, to the point they will ignore intruders. That said, pit bulls are at real genetic risk of having aggressive episodes regardless of whether they are trained despite what some will tell you

@user-bv1jl3dv4r It may be true that this was the first time, but if you are a responsible dog owner and you have done your research, or trained dogs before, you can see the signs. You can tell even the most subtle of clues like when a dog barks at someone aggressively or when they bark at someone just because they're excited. The human species did not spend all this time breeding them for nothing. They signal all of these things. He should have known they would attack strangers, and he should have been aware they'd be able to escape his incredibly crappy wire fence.
