@InfernosReaper You're talking about point shooting. The idea of point shooting accurately with an AR pistol in that form factor is laughable. Sorry, but you're just as guilty of pedantry as the people you seem to be criticizing.

@InfernosReaper My point is that if you want to point shoot you should use a real handgun that is designed for carry and self-defense, not what is effectively a novelty firearm designed to give the middle finger to the ATF. This weapon is oversized for a handgun and requires two hands to use. Unlike a handgun it can't be aligned with one hand along the axis of the shooter's eye very quickly, which means that point shooting is very ineffective. Aiming is not required, but alignment still is. Novelty weapons should indeed have sights because all you're going to end up using them for is target shooting anyway. That's their only practical use, is fun and enjoyment. What you're effectively advocating for is the right for this man to be an idiot, damage utilities at the range he is shooting at, and potentially put people in danger (depending on how the range is set up). He has no stock and therefore no frame of reference for his body to use to understand the alignment of his weapon. It is only supported by his arms and wrists, with which the brain is not very effective at understanding the finer points of aligning something like a gun.

@InfernosReaper My reaction is not knee-jerk, it is very well considered. I took the time to consider the benefits of using an AR pistol with no sights; there aren't any. Yours is not, considering that you apparently aren't even aware that some people use pistols for hunting due to space constraints (i.e. sitting in a tree), hence the need for a round like 500 Magnum. Did you really think that all large caliber handguns were novelty items? Why did you think it was such a big market? The range you are talking about simply does not exist. There is no range that would be completely safe if you allow a person who cannot effectively aim their firearm to put rounds downrange. Something will be damaged. It is quite impressive how you downplay the danger of firearms, but I guess it is not atypical for American gun owners... I say this as another American. The state of firearm usage discipline and education in this country is tragic. Some people are principled about "rights." I get it, but I am a pragmatic. Practically speaking, "rights" don't exist. It's nothing more than a polite agreement that our government won't send thugs to shove automatic weapons down our throats when we do certain things. For most other matters, these "rights" are revoked whenever it is convenient for the one revoking them. The 2A is the exception because it vests us with a means of not allowing that to happen. However, this firearm serves no purpose to that end. It is like the tail of a peacock, there just to look outrageous. Viewing the world through the lens of what "should be" because of "rights" leads to idiotic, zealous and "principled" decision making. Do what is practical. Not what is "right."

@InfernosReaper And yet here you are, still unable to provide a reason for the sightless AR pistol to exist, let alone be used at a public range. You are convinced of the superiority of your principles, but you are unable to understand why they don't give you a concrete answer in this scenario. This is the problem with principled thinking. You have presupposed the conclusion without any process of critical thought.

@InfernosReaper If your sights aren't configured properly, then the most reasonable thing to do is to "configure" them (this is usually called "zeroing"). Not simply pretend that they don't exist and terrorize your local range officers by accidentally shooting lights and target rails. "It's not [likely] to come up, sure, but neither is needing a 500 magnum instead of a regular carbine to hunt" Depends on the locale. Pistol hunting is a popular option in swamp territory, where no one wants to be at ground level for extended periods of time. I have to say, I don't understand how you don't see that you're purely advocating for the right of a man to be a selfish idiot that makes the lives of facility staff more difficult. This is like stating that men should have the right to piss on public toilet seats. Except that piss has the chance of ricocheting off the toilet seat and maiming or killing someone in the next stall. Sure, it's not technically illegal and is allowed by our Constitution, but you're not going to make any friends by behaving in this manner. Indeed, if I were shooting in the next lane at that range, I would pack up and leave immediately. That's not something a business owner wants to see. Our Constitution gives us these rights because the Founders assumed we would not be idiots. It is not there to condone idiocy.

@fleatactical7390 It's because of sympathetic trigger pull. Usually happens when brass falls into a total novice's shirt. They reflexively pull the trigger again while waving their arms and hands around trying to get the brass casing to fall out. I have seen videos of people doing this and nearly shooting ROs sweeping brass behind them. It's incredibly pathetic.
