That's incredible, if true. The qualification test for a license to carry in Texas used to be (before it became constitutional carry) 10 hits within a man sized silhouette at 7 yards, if I remember correctly (I can't remember how many rounds were fired or the exact hit ratio, but the point being it was many more hits than you described at a longer range). Those cops wouldn't have passed a basic civilian qualification test to carry a firearm. Meanwhile the instructor said that one man passed who was legally blind.

@blargcoster People like you can't see past your own nose, it's quite depressing, really. Yes, in this photo, I'm sure the guns are unloaded and completely safe. However, this is more likely than not evidence of a habit -- standing downrange to load your guns. Which means that every time they go to that range, they do this. Now, how much money are you willing to bet that every single time they go to the range, and perform this bad habit, that they won't make another mistake? How much more money are you willing to bet that this isn't indicative of an attitude problem, one where the reins continually slip? Once you get 2 or 3 mistakes deep, due to your laziness and false sense of competence... then someone dies. This is bad enough if a civilian does it. But a federal agent, who is supposed to be the authority on gun safety and regulation...? Come on. How many boots do you lick per hour?

I knew what you meant when you said "they can shoot their asses off..." buuut, still perhaps not the best turn of phrase.

I know this is crazy, but my dad handed me an unloaded Winchester Model 12 when I was 3 or 4 years old... seemingly specifically so I could point it at his friend and he could pretend to be shocked and beg for his life. That had an impact on me. In fact so much so, that I broke down and cried at around 13 when he was drunk and started pulling out his guns to show our neighbor, because I didn't think he was competent enough to be doing that in that state.
