To this idiotic argument I always say: There's nothing you can do about your local truck driver refusing to show up to work today, or worse, blocking the highway. There's nothing you can do about your local power plant safety inspector "forgetting" to ensure everything is in working order. There's nothing you can do about the junior officers in the counter-insurgency task force leaking information out to everyone. Civil wars aren't won or lost with tanks, planes or nukes. Just ask the Taliban.

@realitycheck1018 Most nations in the world can't afford an aircraft carrier. Good luck projecting force from an aircraft carrier to a state like, say, Ohio.

@thecensoredmuscle563 You and the clown above you simply don't understand how these scenarios work. It is not about winning battles. As long as there is an ideological front from which militias can appear out of thin air, your work is not done. The only way to crush such a resistance movement, the way which our distant forefathers used, is total conquest and what is effectively brainwashing until the future generations have no sentiment for resistance. This conquest becomes non-linearly difficult in relation to the total land area of the nation you are conquering, due to the fact that there are additional places to hide. Since post-WW2, politicians across the first world have become too scared to commit to this kind of conquest, for fear of damaging international relations.
