The thing about America seeming reckless and an internal coup being the best result is that a coup isn't going happen if we go back to square one and North Korea receives aid from the UN while being allowed to threaten the US. There will be no pressure and therefore the status quo is maintained, the Kim dynasty continues to exercise control. The correct approach is to do it the same way Reagan and to some degree previous presidents handled the USSR, just strangle it economically until it becomes self evident that the government can't provide for the people. So in other words, assuming the best and that Trump is trying to emulate Reagan, he needs to put pressure on N. Korea until the coup happens. There is no possibility for a coup without some kind of pressure. There isn't a way to know for sure but I suspect this is the strategy Trump is aiming for.
