@info0 Meh. Just get a Windows PC that exists entirely for gaming and nothing else. There's no better security measure for concerns about spyware or malware. You can probably split the hardware into your current PC, and build a second one for other purposes, quite cheaply.

@info0 I used to fuck around with Proton and Wine trying to get games to work. It was kind of fun for a while, but after some months I got sick of it. If one has the money, it saves a ton of time to just put the GPU and CPU inside a Windows gaming PC that is silo'd off from everything else, and buy cheap hardware for your other PC. Personally I haven't seen any of those GameGuard issues, but it would indeed be ideal if we didn't have such intrusive anti-cheat measures which inevitably don't work anyway if the cheaters are dedicated enough.

@Garuda_31 The political status/message of the game actually is of no consequence. It would not surprise me at all if Helldivers 2 was made by a full blown anti-fascist who thought they were effectively satirizing Fascism. People can have stupid opinions and still be talented. Verhoeven also thought he was satrizing Fascism when he directed the Starship Troopers movie. I still wouldn't deny that he is a talented director. What matters is how "the usual suspects" view the media, and showing that "cancellation" only has any power, if you let it have power.

@Garuda_31 It's successful because it has non-woke options and has good player agency. You can kill the two lesbians who are otherwise plot-critical in a completely "good" playthrough (the game doesn't assign any moral labels to your choices). I believe this game gets a little too much flak from those who haven't played it at all. Even DOS2 was a slightly less good, more woke game, but it was still pretty fun. I know they marketed in a provocative and degenerate manner, but marketing shouldn't be taken as perfect representation of a piece of media. I've seen quite a few films whose reputations were marred by their trailers, usually put together by a different team. Ion Fury also suffered from this because some utter douchebag from 3D Realms made up a bunch of shit about the game's protagonist in an interview, then made the devs remove a lotion bottle that said "OGAY" on it as a dumb joke, which they then re-added later. It's still in my opinion the best retroclone shooter.

@lostalone9320 wew lad, imagine defending a group of people who do little else but prevent working class people from getting to their jobs and earning a living, then wonder why working class people don't like them.

@cykablyat3680 It looks good because you only see it through propaganda showed to you on the Super Destroyer. You'd have to be insane to believe that it is really a utopia. The SE government reveals just through propaganda that child labor is normalized, you have to fill out a government form to have unprotected sex, etc. Also, talk to the junior tech on the destroyer until she talks about her savings plans. It's an absurd parody of modern American economics. Personally, I believe that the game's progression system exists entirely in-universe, and that warfare is completely economized for Helldivers. They have to "buy" gear, and don't receive it on the basis of suitability for the mission, just like the player does. It resembles Fascism in many ways due to the propaganda, but I believe it's more like "What if the American military-industrial complex controlled humanity for a few hundred years?"
