@andresanguianozuniga6798 They aren't universal by any means. Every human right had to be fought for, or forced upon someone by a foreign power. Slavery still isn't universally abolished. The fact that you're watching Uganda do this, right now, proves that treating people of differing sexual orientations equally isn't universal. It's not a thing in Russia either. I don't know what you mean by "universal" but it doesn't make any sense in any way I've used the word.

@MrHarrystank This is a false premise in my opinion. We don't fully know what causes people to be gay yet and in my (amateur) opinion, it seems clear from the results of multiple studies that it is very likely to be both nature and nurture. Possibly even leaning towards nurture. For example, there were studies in the 60s and 70s showing that gay men overwhelmingly came from families with a single mother, or one where the father was hostile, and especially ones where the mother was overprotective and abusive (in subtle ways, not just physically, but sexual abuse also was present often). There is a lot of evidence to suggest that nurture plays a huge role in whether someone turns out to be gay or not. It is not unlike sexual fetishes in that regard.

@chrisb7528 I agree with stuffandstuff, actually, it wasn't a part of British culture until recently. The tenants of our pro-gun culture were carried over with us from Britain with the first settlers. In Britain, it is still quite possible to own a gun if you are a farmer, like the settlers would have been, but it's highly restricted. Britain's political situation is in many ways a mirror of our own, progressing slightly differently, but they have much in common; the party's platforms are converging and everyone is shifting towards authoritarianism. The only reason ours is progressing slower is that our nation is a federation and our tendency to bicker with one another, along with our legislature being split up into 2 "real" houses instead of one honorary one and one "real" one, helps us out in this case.

@cryptonaut1435 There's a dump truck of stuff if you want it laid out for you explicitly. From a government's perspective, having more homosexuals in your country is objectively bad. Even in our society, which makes conscious efforts to improve homosexual acceptance year over year, homosexuals are more likely to have mental health issues. Their relationships are more likely to suffer from abuse. They suffer from physical health, too -- the vaginal canal is naturally adapted to help prevent some STDs, but the anal cavity, which often bleeds and isn't designed for sex, doesn't. Not to mention the repeated act of anal sex causes irreversible trauma over time. You could always choose to abstain, but again, this can contribute to a worse state of mental health. The mental health issues are a vicious cycle -- mentally ill people are more likely to abuse one another, which causes more issues. And I have not even touched on the fact that they can't reproduce, which is fatal for a nation if it reaches critical mass. The majority of people aren't even homosexual and we still suffer from massive issues with birth rates. Furthermore, in my opinion there is more than enough evidence to show that homosexuality can be caused by nurture and environment, not just nature or processes in the womb. So it naturally follows that encouraging acceptance or even glorifying homosexual relationships for children isn't productive for a society, on either a micro or a macro level. If you're homosexual and you approach the issue objectively, you're left with a serious choice: either accept that you have a problem, which is a serious blow to your self-worth as you accept that you are on a path to "inferiority" (not unlike a bulimic or obese person with self-esteem issues for example) or you deny/don't care about the problems and accept yourself, which raises your self-esteem but renders you blind to the issues with the lifestyle. Either way you are at significant risk of mental health problems.
