@ScaryNda206 They don't chase off thieves because store employees aren't cops. The store doesn't want to pay for a lawsuit because a store employee made a mistake, or because of some stupid law that the thief used to sue the store for injury even if they were in the wrong. Furthermore, no store employee is paid enough to do this. In truth, the thief should be glad this happened. He never had to interact with police. The crime was prevented at minimum cost to society.

@ScaryNda206 It doesn't matter. When insurance pays out for a policy, they increase your premiums because they acknowledge that your risk factor has increased. This is true for any kind of insurance. You, the business owner, end up paying either way. You also lose out on the profit you would have gained from selling the item, because your insurance policy is only going to cover the cost of the item, not the potential profit. It's completely disingenuous to compare an individual as a victim of theft to a corporation as a victim of theft. I won't even justify that with a response. If what you're stating is true, then stores wouldn't be closing all over towns like LA, SF, and DC because of rampant theft. The insurance is paying for all of it, right? Then why are they closing?

@timowens7214 Most cops won't charge you if you do something like this, outside of states where thievery is legal like CA. The key is not dealing any measurable damage to the crook. Use mace and/or learn BJJ (fun fact, the name "jiu jitsu" means "gentle art" for a reason). The store will never do anything because they're afraid of liability, but they can't stop you from doing something.

@technomage6736 Nah, that would have been kinda sad but at least they would still be somewhat competent as cops for realizing their limitations and using tools when they needed to. This just makes them look comical.

@kingcosworth2643 Those aren't pants, those are basically assless chaps. Either the range she was at gave no fucks at all, or she changed in the range once she got in.

@pugsymalone6539 "the burden is on real, old-school, JFK liberals to defend/reclaim the definition of the word and the culture," The burden is on everyone, collectively, to remind each other that the label has been co-opted. Classical liberals are a victim in this culture war. When topics like these are brought up, typically "conspiracy theorist" and other such meaningless labels are thrown around immediately. We have a duty to ensure that the truth is kept in focus and all of us lose by not doing that. By "we" I mean literally everyone not just conservatives. There are high-level government agencies with virtually no accountability working since decades past to manipulate this narrative. Most notably the CIA.

This is like watching disabled people at this point. Not only did they not take the obvious step of simply tying the damn rope to the railings, you'll notice that the guy on the left is at least intelligent enough to immediately let go when the driver clearly doesn't give a fuck. Meanwhile you have Ms. College Education on the right who climbs on top of the concrete barrier, holding the rope as the truck drives away, mouth likely agape the entire time, unable to consider the outcome where the truck pulls her as she holds on to the rope. It's like watching lemmings, it's as if these people want to die.

Love how the moment he broke free for just a second, half of them just gave up and were like "hoo doggy, i need me some kool aid mm-hmm" even though they could have grabbed him again if they tried.

@daviejz6698 Even without taking insurance premiums into account, stores will install anti-theft measures like cages on shelves. This costs money. The cost is passed on to the consumer.

@springwoodslasher79 I would say there is only one semi-valid reason for female cops to exist and that is in situations where the gender relation between the perp and the cop matters, but that is mostly for the sake of the department's reputation (i.e. male cops getting accused of sexual assault) not for the actual safety of anyone involved
