@Babba-w1j Correct. They didn't need to kill him, just draw his fire and make him think about his own survival. This didn't happen in the Hollywood bank heist, just saying. Cops ran to the scene to deal with not one but two active shooters, with multiple fully automatic weapons that had expanded drum magazines, and they were encased with body armor from head to toe. It was like they were playing GTA with cheat codes. Even a shotgun that one officer had couldn't penetrate the armor. There were no LEOs with rifle caliber weapons until the SWAT team finally showed up. But they did do one important thing: they kept the robbers there until SWAT arrived. The reason the cop was fired was because he didn't meet the standard of service that many cops in the past have met while responding to an active shooter. It's really that simple.

People keep saying this, but cops have responded to an active shooter and confronted them with handguns in the past, many times. Look up the North Hollywood bank heist for a particular example. This guy simply did not meet the standard of service to be a cop. He had 4 armed people with him as backup against a guy who was trapped in his hotel room. He had nowhere to run or hide.
