Remarkable story, as drivers who would commit minor infractions like overshooting a platform by 100m would be punished by being sent to a "training program" that mostly involved them doing humiliating menial tasks like weeding and cleaning toilets. This was because the schedule for trains was so tight that you couldn't afford to be 21 seconds late. The driver had already made two minor infractions that day and was probably so stressed about being sent back to "reeducation" that he wasn't paying attention to his speed as he hit the curve.
