N In Texas the law follows castle doctrine which means you have the right to be free of threats in a bare minimum of three places and have no duty to retreat: your home, your vehicle, and your place of employment. These are the bare minimum needed to live. The employees had no duty to run away or wait for the police. So yes, actually, it did give them the right.

@delphvine89 Pocket knife? Lol. This is Dallas, they might have been packing heat. And at most jobs, you're not allowed to carry while working. So yeah, boiling water is reasonable here.
