We should prosecute false accusers, however, you can be falsely thought to be a liar because the evidence is not good enough. It is a completely reasonable fear to have. Same reason you would be nervous around a cop even though you have done nothing wrong. There is no guarantee that the person questioning you is competent.

@fumeck1674 You didn't even understand the point of what I was posting, and indeed conveniently ignored where I explicitly stated that liars should still be prosecuted. I'll leave it as a fun brain teaser for you to re-read my posts and understand your mistake. Enjoy.

Well, he's believing the guys in prison, to be fair... I'm speaking from a US perspective, but statistically, most SA claims and reports are simply not acted upon due to lack of evidence. This is what feminists complained about in the late 2000s and early 2010s. That narrative shifted drastically, to instead believing whatever an accuser says at face value. However that type of "listen and believe" prosecution only occurs in extralegal "courts" like college campus arbitration. If someone is in jail for SA in the US, it is because there is generally overwhelming evidence against them.

@amethonys2798 The problem is that there is a VERY narrow "grey area" for the accuser being "honestly wrong" in a SA claim. The victim is the one making the claim. They either got assaulted or they didn't and it's obvious that they should be aware of that. The only question is whether they might have been unconscious at the time and didn't know it happened, thus filing the claim later than one might expect, or they have trouble identifying the perp due to masks, lighting or other circumstances. I am a bit paranoid, but from my perspective, it's not difficult to see how a person might be afraid of being labeled a liar simply due to a lack of evidence, because there is very little room for someone making an honest mistake in such a claim.
