@Niitroxyde No sane group of infantry would stay on top of an armored vehicle in the middle of combat. Armored vehicles draw the most fire in combat, and they would be sitting ducks for any machine gun. We learned this lesson in WW2 80 years ago.

@flabbergast_se If your assertion is that Russians love standing on top of armored vehicles and getting shot by machineguns from 300+ meters away, cool, but I'm going to need a source on that. I can believe that a national military has flawed doctrine but there are limits to absurdity.

@Helperbot-2000 Tanks weren't used for transport in WW1 because they were slow, usually slower than infantry, and they were also used pretty much exclusively for breakthrough tactics. I don't think the idea of infantry riding on a tank was even seriously considered during that war.

@Codeman22 You're the one making assumptions here, buddy. You're assuming that this mom, who was unable to prevent her kid from making incriminating threats online, is responsible enough to keep her gun under some lock and container that you think will never fail, and then keep the key somewhere he'll never get it.

@SkithTickler It isn't really propaganda. It would be propaganda if they used this clip in a video which says "look how weak the enemy is." However, they present the video as is, with no real accompaniment. It is far less biased than the average mainstream news story. The only reason you call it propaganda is because it makes this particular Russian armored group look extremely incompetent, but you can't argue with video evidence.

@223rockmaster I've used the internet basically unmonitored since I was 7, did a lot of stupid things my parents didn't know about. And a few that they did. And I've been bullied quite a lot at school too. Never did it even cross my mind to make a threat like this kid did. I did consider retaliating a few times, not even in a lethal way, but in the end realized it wasn't worth it.

@however-yh2jy many criminals have sympathy for abused children because they themselves were abused as children. just because someone's moral compass is erratic or irrational doesn't mean it's nonexistent

@flabbergast_se Did you read my comments? I'm arguing that no sane group of infantrymen would sit on top of a tank when they come under fire. Not the opposite. Other people have suggested that infantrymen sit on top of tanks while under fire. This isn't just good doctrine, it's common sense and basic survival instinct. If machinegun bullets whiz by your head and you're on top of a giant vehicle with 100mm of armor surrounding it, would you rather sit on top of it or duck behind it?

@NinjaBehindTheScene Uh... Yes? Do you honestly think freedom of speech was better in those times? In medieval times your neighbors would look at you funny if you said the Lord's name in vain, or without making the sign of the cross. You were more likely to be lynched by your neighbors for making such threats long before any judges arrived to decide on it. The catch was, we didn't have the internet to make ourselves look stupid to the whole planet, and there were less authorities around to enforce the law.

@Codeman22 Er... no. I am a gun rights advocate, but no, many people are very irresponsible. And even if it was locked up, many products for that are simply trash and can be broken into by any enterprising child. Check out LockpickingLawyer's videos on gun safes

@peabase Virtually no news organizations address their headlines towards the "cognoscenti." To the layman, any military vehicle with treads is a tank. Your credentials mean nothing because the news isn't addressed to captains in the military who have decades of years of experience dealing armored vehicles.
